It is with sadness that we report the death of Councillor Norman Wright after a short illness. Norman was elected in 2008 as a Councillor for Cokeham Ward, and has served on many committees during his time with Adur Council. As a member of the editorial team for Adur Outlook, he was able to use his previous experience as a newspaper editor to good effect, ensuring that the public were kept up to date on local developments. With a political career spanning district and parish councils over many years, he brought an experienced view to important decisions now having to be made as a consequence of the financial situation. Always being available for local people to help with their problems, he and his fellow Sompting Councillors worked as part of a team, regularly tackling local issues and serving the community. He brought a great many skills to his role. Having served as the main organist for the Chapel Royal in London, he was later able to bring that experience to bear in local churches. He leaves a dear wife Inga, to whom he was married for seventeen years, and who supported him throughout his work as a Councillor. I am sure we will miss his dry sense of humour, his enquiring mind informed, observations on national political developments, and not least, his tireless commitment to work for local people on Adur District and Lancing Parish councils.
