Children’s Minister, Tim Loughton, has given his full support to National School Meals Week 2011 which takes place from 7th-11th November. NSMW is the biggest national healthy eating awareness week about school meals in Britain and encourages everyone to "Get Involved" in promoting healthy school dinners in Primary and Secondary Schools.
Tim said:
“National Schools Meal Week is a great initiative and, as Minister for Children and Families, I am fully behind it. Eating properly is so important at a young age and I hope that parents and children in my constituency of East Worthing and Shoreham, as well as across the country, take this opportunity to promote healthy eating in schools.
Throughout the week, schools are offering some excellent themes for children to help them learn more about food from different countries, get creative in the kitchen and learn the importance of fruit and vegetables in a diet. There is also a special day on Friday to celebrate our troops who gave their lives in the line of duty, as well as learn about school meals in the 1940s!”
NSMW is being run by the Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA). For more information on the week visit http://www.iloveschoolmeals.co.uk/
