It is with great sadness that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, has passed away aged 99.
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."
Commenting Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing & Shoreham, said: "This is very sad news and on behalf of all the people of East Worthing & Shoreham I send our heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty and the Royal Family. An extraordinary life devoted to public service and to the Queen who did so much to be proud of for our country.
He will be greatly missed and we are grateful for a remarkable life lived to the full. RIP"
