Adur & Worthing Councils' Land Charges team is continuing to process property searches for house buyers despite increased workloads caused by the pandemic and the stamp duty holiday. The increased workload is being felt by all those in the property industry including estate agents and solicitors.
A buoyant house market has seen a significant increase in search requests but the Land Charges team is currently working well within its published guidelines on turnaround times which state that Full Searches must be carried out within 15 days. Turnaround times are currently at 9 days.
Head of Planning, James Appleton, said:
“There is a lot of activity in the housing market at present and the team is working very hard to maintain our performance levels and not slow the process for buying and selling properties. With the stamp duty holiday due to finish at the end of March next year this busy period is likely to continue and I would urge searches to be requested as early as possible in the process to assist us during this busy period.”
