Adur District Council is continuing to work with the new tenants of Southwick FC's football ground to bring the facility back into community use.
The terms for a 25-year lease with charity the Russell Martin Foundation (RMF) were agreed in February this year and the Council has awarded £50,000 to repair the run-down facility as part of the agreement.
Due to significant mismanagement issues and safety concerns, the Council ended the agreement with the former leaseholder at Southwick FC in 2019.
Both RMF and the Council were aware of the plight of the Old Barn Way ground when the agreement was made and both are now working to get the facilities up to scratch. RMF are working with a number of local clubs and teams to get football up and running as soon as possible.
Rebuilding boundary walls and demolishing derelict buildings are part of the work programme as is an upgrade of floodlights.
