Lancing & Sompting Residents were devastated to learn in February that the RVS had taken the decision to close this hugely popular Community facility. Chesham House has been used by many many people over the years and a whole variety of activities have been hosted here such as pensioner lunches, a vintage café, computer classes, quizzes, whist drives, community group meet-ups, bingo and much much more. Essentially it was a haven for people to meet up, have a coffee and a chat and was run by a fantastic group of volunteers.
When we heard the news Tim and I leapt in to action to try and save this fantastic asset for Lancing & Sompting. We have already had one meeting with the RVS Head of commissioned Services, Steve Amos, and we now have another meeting in the diary with the RVS Deputy CEO, Sam Ward. We have managed to get them to reconsider and they announced a couple of weeks that they had postponed the decision to close. The purpose of our next meeting is to find ways to help them continue with this much loved service and to explore way of continuing to fund.
We are updating residents regularly via the Save Chesham House Facebook group that Tim setup.
