It was a busy time for Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne when she joined Tim Loughton MP and Lancing and Sompting Conservative councillors for their monthly street surgery outside the Lancing Children & Family Centre in the centre of the village last Saturday. There were queues for most of the 2 hour session with local residents keen to hear about the plans to replace Lancing police station with a more accessible policing presence in the village following a lot of misinformation circulating after the announcement by Sussex Police last month. Tim and councillors were also on hand to deal with a whole host of constituent cases ranging from junk mail to local planning issues.
The PCC and the team were also joined by local PCSO Sally Carman and PC Rob Luff who then accompanied them on a tour of Sompting with Sompting Conservative District Councillors Brian Boggis (pictured left with Katy Bourne, next to Sompting Parish Councillor Gareth Smith, Tim Loughton, District Councillor Carson Albury and Sompting parish Councillor James Butcher) as well as Cokeham Ward District Councillor Dave Simmons. The officers were able to update the group about recent policing issues in Sompting and to announce that a new PCSO Vanessa Tiller had just taken up post as the new PCSO for the village after a previous gap.
